Michael Branson Smith had a lecture, "We Are All Artists", in his blog for ds106. What he claims all about is that anyone can be artist. It doesn't matter if they're not art major students. We are all kinds of artists.In his opinion, creativity is not what we get when we're born but something you can learn, and ds106 is a good place that you can be inspired by much of creativity and grow your own creativity.
We just don't see that way.
I agree with his idea. I hope I can be an artist somehow ! And his lecture made me reconsider about the importance of social media. I mean, social media gives people places to show their creativity. This is really important I think. Ds106 is a perfect example. People post their work on ds106 and it's viewed by people all over the world. Same in YouTube, flickr, etc. These platforms and its convenience highly encourage people to be artists I can tell !

I like how you included an image of a self-portrait in this post, because so much of building a digital identity through creating projects and sharing them on social media conjures notions of self-portraiture.
